About Me

Nicole Burgess LMFT in Indiana

You Deserve to Feel Great. I’m Here to Help.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Indiana and California (inactive as 2018). I am also a Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC).

Fear, worry, and stress can stop us from living a happy and fulfilling life and they don’t need to. I believe everyone is capable of change and can create the life they desire.

I am passionate about helping teen girls and women in overcoming their struggles and being all that they can be in life. I find it a privilege to walk alongside my clients as they take back their life from anxiety and blossom more into their fullest potential. With me, you can feel scared and empowered at the same time. With me, you can take off your mask that you show the world and be your authentic self.

If you have never been to therapy previously, I applaud you for having the courage to seek it out. I have worked with therapists while going through my own major life transitions.  I am grateful for their support, compassion, and guidance. While traditional talk therapy is very helpful, I incorporate other expressive means that I found powerful in helping my clients gain a deeper relationship with themselves.

I am also a Soul-Leadership Coach to highly sensitive and high-achieving women. I help professional women continue to do what they love professionally without sacrificing their personal life. Women transform overwhelm to calm and perfectionism to confidentially empowered.

What I have done as a Marriage and Family Therapist:

I have had great success with thousands of children, adolescents, families, men, and women who have suffered from depression, past traumas, grief and loss, transitions, relationship issues, and various other issues. I have experience in school settings, a suicide and crisis hotline, and mental health agencies. I have a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling Psychology from the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology (now called Sophia University) in Palo Alto, CA in 2005. I also have a certificate in Creative and Expressive Arts from ITP. I am licensed in California (LMFT#45421 inactive) and in Indiana (LMFT#35001684A). I am also a certified Suicide and Crisis Counselor in Santa Clara, CA and a certified practitioner of EAP/EAL in Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA). I am certified as a Distance Credentialed Counselor (DCC), which means I can offer online counseling (or virtual counseling) to those in the state of Indiana.

My Approach & Philosophy

Transpersonal Psychology – I use a holistic approach to treat the whole person, i.e. your mind, body, and spirit make up the whole you. I incorporate expressive ways (i.e. art, music, journaling, etc.) to deepen the therapy process along with traditional talk therapy. This is can also be called experiential therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral/Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral – Together we explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to stop possibly emotionally painful patterns and begin to increase connection with yourself and others.
